Optimization and Applicability of Bioprocesses

This book argues that the sustainable management of resources requires a systematic approach that primarily involves the integration of green innovative biotechnological strategies and eco-engineering. It discusses how microbial community intelligence can be used for waste management and bio-remediation and explains how biological processes can be optimized by integrating genomics tools to provide perspectives on sustainable development. The book describes the application of modern molecular techniques such as fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), highly sensitive catalyzed reporter deposition (CARD)-FISH, in situ DNA-hybridization chain reaction (HCR) and methods for detecting mRNA and/or functional genes to optimize bioprocessess. These techniques, supplemented with metagenomic analysis, reveal that a large proportion of micro-organisms still remain to be identified and also that they play a vital role in establishing bioprocesses.
European Perspectives on Green Biotechnology Business Practices

Author: Daniela Zirra
language: en
Publisher: Cambridge Scholars Publishing
Release Date: 2024-04-24
Many interesting publications can be found in the field of green biotechnology entrepreneurship, but most of them focus either on entrepreneurship in biotechnologies in general, or address industries that could benefit from the innovations brought about by green biotech. This book is a European approach to the subject, that starts from concepts and principles and moves to specific elements, promotion and management, financial aspects, achieved economic performances, information technology and communication tools that can be used for the initiation and development of a businesses in this sector, all the way up to a brief mapping of some good practices in different European countries. The book will be of interest to a wide range of readers, such as all those interested in starting and developing a business in this field, and also those who just wish to gather green biotech entrepreneurial knowledge, and to develop their skills and competencies in sustainable development.
Emerging Research in Science and Engineering Based on Advanced Experimental and Computational Strategies

Author: Felipe de Almeida La Porta
language: en
Publisher: Springer Nature
Release Date: 2020-01-02
In this book, the authors discuss some of the main challenges and new opportunities in science and engineering research, which involve combining computational and experimental approaches as a promising strategy for arriving at new insights into composition–structure–property relations, even at the nanoscale. From a practical standpoint, the authors show that significant improvements in the material/biomolecular foresight by design, including a fundamental understanding of their physical and chemical properties, are vital and will undoubtedly help us to reach a new technological level in the future.
