Excerpt from Letters and Recollections of Mazzini Mrs. Hamilton King, the author of The Disciples, is laid low by years and by ill-health. Being therefore unable to see the book through the press herself, but earnestly desiring its publication, she has permitted me to edit it for her. The little volume needs no apology. It is a peculiarly genuine and personal record of the more intimate side of Mazzini's life during those sad latter years when his cause was triumphing in the eyes of others, but not in his own; it contains some of his most characteristic letters, and a description of his last imprisonment at Gaeta, and of his death at Pisa, by the women who witnessed those closing scenes. Comment of mine would be an impertinence, for it is not an argument but a record. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
