Over the last years, the term Design Thinking has gained popularity across many disciplines. It is seen by many as an exciting new paradigm for dealing with complex problems in sectors such as IT, Business, Education and even Banking. Design Thinking however is nothing new. Its roots trace back to the late 60ies of the last century, originating in the fields of engineering science at Stanford University. However new are the various and diverse Design Thinking applications and developments driven by many organizations from both the private sector as well as academia. The University of St. Gallen (HSG) for example applies and embeds Design Thinking in a variety of contexts and looks back on a successful implementation in Deutsche Bank amongst many others. The 2008 established Design Thinking at Deutsche Bank initiative aims at raising awareness on future playing fields of banking by building hands-on prototypes involving, in particular, end-users themselves. The author of this paper has been an intern within the Design Thinking team at Deutsche Bank himself and found out about certain pain points and needs regarding the multiple stakeholders of such a business. By actually applying Design Thinking, the author developed a method toolkit supporting various target groups by making the whole process more transparent, providing orientation and guidance as well as particularly encouraging and enabling design teams to experience methods and 'bringing-them-to-life'
