Textbooks and War
This volume reflects on the role played by textbooks in the complex relationship between war and education from a historical and multinational perspective, asking how textbook content and production can play a part in these processes. It has long been established that history textbooks play a key role in shaping the next generation’s understanding of both past events and the concept of ‘friend’ and ‘foe’. Considering both current and historical textbooks, often through a bi-national comparative approach, the editors and contributors investigate various important aspects of the relationships between textbooks and war, including the role wars play in the creation of national identities (whether the country is on the winning or losing side), the effacement of international wars to highlight a country’s exceptionalism, or the obscuring of intra-national conflict through the ways in which a civil war is portrayed. Zgodnie z opracowaniem Zespołu ds. COVID-19 przy Prezesie Polskiej Akademii Nauk: „SARS-COV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2) jest typowym wirusem pochodzenia zwierzęcego, jest przyczyną choroby COVID-19 (coronavirus disease-19) zaliczanej do grupy zoonoz. To w tej grupie klasyfikowana jest zdecydowana większość chorób ludzkich. SARS-COV-2 jest kolejnym po SARS i Zika wirusem, który został bardzo szybko przemieszczony z pierwotnej niszy ekologicznej, różnica polega jednak na dotkliwości skutków zdrowotnych tak intensywnego, globalnego rozlania się nowej choroby. Co ważne, dotychczasowe wyniki badań wskazują, że COVID-19 rozpowszechnia się między ludźmi we wszystkich znanych warunkach geograficznych” . Do powyższej charakterystyki można dodać jeszcze jeden, bardzo ważny aspekt: SARSCOV-2 to wirus, który zmienił oblicze współczesnego świata. Należy przy tym wskazać kilka kluczowych dat: − 17 listopada 2019 r. – wybuch epidemii zakaźnej choroby COVID-19 mieście Wuhan, w prowincji Hubei, w środkowych Chinach, − 24 stycznia 2020 r. – Francja jako pierwsza w Europie oficjalnie zgłosiła pierwsze przypadki zakażenia SARS-COV-22 , − 11 marca 2020 r. – uznanie przez Światową Organizację Zdrowia choroby COVID-19 za pandemię, − 4 marca 2020 r. wykryto pierwszy przypadek koronawirusa w Polsce. Odtąd nic już nie było takie same. Wirus odcisnął swoje piętno na wielu obszarach: ekonomicznym, społecznym czy prawnym. Jest więc zasadne, aby dokonać analizy wpływu pandemii COVID-19 na wybrane sfery. Efektem badań jest prezentowana monografia. Przygotowana została przez międzynarodowe środowisko – pracowników naukowych zarówno z Polski, Ukrainy oraz Słowacji. Poruszane zagadnienia mają interdyscyplinarny charakter, jednak łączy je jeden wspólny mianownik: COVID-19. Dzięki różnorodnej problematyce, prezentowana monografia „Polska i świat w kryzysie wywołanym COVID-19 – aspekty ekonomiczne, społeczne i prawne” zawiera walory merytoryczne jak i poznawcze.
