Tulisan dalam buku ini mengangkat kehidupan sastrawan, penyair, aktivis yang fenomenal, Wiji Thukul. Tidak hanya mengangkat kisah hidupnya, tetapi juga menelaah lebih dalam dan komprehensif kiprah kesastraannya. Wiji Thukul masuk dalam arena sastra Indonesia pada saat arena sastra Indonesia dalam konstruksi corak sastra tertentu. Pendekatan arena produksi kultural Pierre Bourdieu yang dasarnya adalah sosiologi kritis ternyata juga menghasilkan sosiologi sastra Wiji Thukul atau kritik sastra Wiji Thukul yang dapat diajukan sebagai matakuliah tersendiri dalam pembelajaran sastra di perguruan tinggi.
