Set Functions, Games and Capacities in Decision Making

The book provides a thorough treatment of set functions, games and capacities as well as integrals with respect to capacities and games, in a mathematical rigorous presentation and in view of application to decision making. After a short chapter introducing some required basic knowledge (linear programming, polyhedra, ordered sets) and notation, the first part of the book consists of three long chapters developing the mathematical aspects. This part is not related to a particular application field and, by its neutral mathematical style, is useful to the widest audience. It gathers many results and notions which are scattered in the literature of various domains (game theory, decision, combinatorial optimization and operations research). The second part consists of three chapters, applying the previous notions in decision making and modelling: decision under uncertainty, decision with multiple criteria, possibility theory and Dempster-Shafer theory.
Artificial Intelligence: Theory and Applications

This book is an up-to-date collection, in AI and environmental research, related to the project ATLAS. AI is used for gaining an understanding of complex research phenomena in the environmental sciences, encompassing heterogeneous, noisy, inaccurate, uncertain, diverse spatio-temporal data and processes. The first part of the book covers new mathematics in the field of AI: aggregation functions with special classes such as triangular norms and copulas, pseudo-analysis, and the introduction to fuzzy systems and decision making. Generalizations of the Choquet integral with applications in decision making as CPT are presented. The second part of the book is devoted to AI in the geo-referenced air pollutants and meteorological data, image processing, machine learning, neural networks, swarm intelligence, robotics, mental well-being and data entry errors. The book is intended for researchers in AI and experts in environmental sciences as well as for Ph.D. students.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 16th International Conference on Scalable Uncertainty Management, SUM 2024, held in Palermo, Italy, during November 27–29, 2024. The 28 full and 7 short papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 43 submissions. SUM 2024 solicited three types of paper submissions: Long papers reporting on original research or providing surveys that synthesize current research trends, short papers describing promising work in progress, systems, or positions on controversial issues, and extended abstracts.
