Safe Navigation with Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS)is written with the aim of providing watch-keeping officers with an overview of the Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) and electronic charts. From July 2012 onward, all new passenger vessels and new tankers will have to be fitted with ECDISs and by the year 2018, the ECDIS equipment will become mandatory on all seagoing vessels.
