On March 2, 2010, the Secretary of Defense appointed the two editors to co-chair a working group to undertake a comprehensive review of the impacts of repeal, should it occur, of Section 654 of Title 10 of the U.S. Code, commonly known as the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" law. Their assignment was two-fold: (1) assess the impact of repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell on military readiness, military effectiveness, unit cohesion, recruiting, retention, and family readiness; and (2) recommend appropriate changes, if necessary, to existing regulations, policies, and guidance in the event of repeal. This document constitutes their report of that assessment and their recommendations. This is a print on demand edition of an important, hard-to-find report.

The repeal of the government's policy on homosexual military service, known as Don't Ask, Don't Tell (DADT), has caused much concern among Christian military service members, especially chaplains, and has led to much debate about the morality of homosexuality, the ideal of free speech, and the role of clergy in public service. Can it be scientifically demonstrated that homosexuality is normal? What has homosexual political activity shown to be their agenda, if any? What does the Bible say about homosexuality? How can chaplains who disagree with the homosexual lifestyle respond to the repeal in a way that retains their prophetic voice, but protects them from prosecution? How can chaplains minister to homosexual service members and their families in a post-DADT military? These are just some of the questions addressed in this important work by a group of scholars and chaplains, many of whom serve or have served in the academy, the military, and the church.

‘M.S.T. – Military Sexual Trauma’ is a powerful memoir by Keith E. Young, a veteran, retired nurse, and lifelong advocate for survivors of Military Sexual Trauma. Through honest storytelling and heartfelt reflection, Keith shares his experience of MST and its long-lasting emotional and psychological impact. This book sheds light on a painful reality often hidden behind the discipline and loyalty of military life—sexual assault and harassment among service members. Keith takes readers on a journey from his childhood and early military days to the traumatic incident that changed his life, and finally to his long and difficult road toward healing. With courage and vulnerability, ‘M.S.T.’ gives voice to survivors who have felt alone and unheard. It offers support, understanding, and a message of hope: healing is possible, and no one has to face trauma in silence. This book is for survivors, their loved ones, and anyone who wants to better understand the urgent need for awareness, empathy, and change within military culture. It is both a personal story and a call to action to speak up, stand together, and make sure no soldier ever feels abandoned in their fight to heal.
