In Praying the Hours Suzanne Guthrie offers us a contemporary way to practice the ancient tradition of hallowing time throughout the day by marking the hours with prayer and thanksgiving. With humor and wisdom she draws on her experience as a wife, mother, Episcopal priest, and teacher of children, showing us through her own life how these devotions can fold into the times of a hectic day. Praying the Hours in Ordinary Life takes the reader and the worshiper on an excursion into an ancient practice. While providing a sense of the monastic life from which it is drawn, the book also provides the opportunity for individuals or groups of people to enter into the Opus Dei, the work of God: a life of prayer to which monastics have been devoted since the third century.
