Excerpt from Public Worship, Partly Responsive: Designed for Any Christian Congregation This book contains complete services for the morning and afternoon (or evening) of five Sundays, and a service also for a sixth Sunday; which latter is abbreviated from the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer, and may be used at pleasure. The work has been prepared for use in college chapels, in schools, in Public Institutions, in Reformatory Houses, at sea-side and other resorts, in places where there is no settled ministry, and in short, wherever Christians desire to worship, - no clergyman being present, - and where a Responsive Service is desired, but where there is an unwillingness to use the Liturgy of the Episcopal Church. It is not intended to be a complete Church Manual; therefore no forms for funerals or marriages, or for the administration of the Sacraments, have been supplied.
