Environmentally Sustainable Buildings

This publication examines the environmental impacts of the building sector upon the natural and built environment, as well looking at current policies designed to reduce these effects, in particular with regard to reduction of carbon dioxide emissions, construction and demolition waste and the prevention of indoor air pollution. A wide range of policy instruments are considered such as building regulation, capital subsidy programmes, energy tax, landfill tax, environmental labelling and energy audit schemes.
