Problems of Neurosis: A book of case-histories is one of the main books written by Alfred Adler. In collaboration with Sigmund Freud and a small group of Freud's colleagues, Adler was among the co-founders of the psychoanalytic movement and a core member of the Vienna Psychoanalytic Society: indeed, to Freud he was "the only personality there" .Only those who see the now as the very knife-edge separating the future from the past are aware of things as they really are. That is why, in the philosophy of medicine, true diagnosis--in Galen's phrase, "the thorough understanding of things present"--comprehends and implies the right understanding of etiology (or what has been) and of prognosis (or what will be).
