Os gêmeos digitais representam uma das tecnologias mais inovadoras da Indústria 4.0, permitindo simular e monitorar em tempo real o comportamento de sistemas físicos por meio de seus equivalentes virtuais. Este exemplo apresenta uma implementação simplificada de gêmeo digital utilizando Python, com foco em conceitos fundamentais como modelagem, sensores virtuais e previsão de estados. Para isso, será simulado o funcionamento de um tanque de água, em que um sistema físico virtual (o tanque real) tem seu nível de água alterado ao longo do tempo, com entrada e consumo constantes. Um sensor simulado capta esse nível, mas com ruído, refletindo a incerteza presente em medições reais. Enquanto isso, o gêmeo digital acompanha o sistema, estimando o nível do tanque com base em um modelo computacional determinístico, livre de ruído. Por meio dessa simulação, o leitor compreenderá como os gêmeos digitais podem ser usados para acompanhar, prever e até corrigir o comportamento de sistemas físicos, mesmo quando os dados de entrada apresentam imperfeições. O código apresentado é totalmente executável e serve como base para aplicações mais complexas em engenharia, automação e Internet das Coisas (IoT).
