The Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) convened a workshop in February 1997 on its Bedrock Geoscience Program to develop a long-term vision and future scientific directions. This report includes recommendations and an implementation plan for the program. It includes the text of introductory remarks on the future role of national geological surveys; science and technology in the federal government; and federal-provincial relationships. It also includes theme session reports on bedrock mapping; geophysics; process-oriented research; linkages; and the creation of a national geoscience knowledge base.
