Besides providing a better understanding of aviation English and of the cognitive processes underlying the comprehension of ATC instructions, this study then offers a very clear recommendation for ATC procedures: to minimize misunderstandings due to message length, air traffic controllers should limit their messages to no more than three aviation topics.
