This book examines decolonisation and M ori education in Aotearoa New Zealand in ways that seeks to challenge, unsettle and provoke for change. Editors Jessica Hutchings and Jenny Lee-Morgan have drawn together leading M ori writers and intellectuals on topics that are at the heart of a decolonising education agenda, from tribal education initiatives to media issues, food sovereignty, wellbeing, Christianity, tikanga and more. A key premise is that colonisation excludes holistic and M ori experiences and ways of knowing, and continues to assert a deep influence on knowledge systems and ways of living and being, and that efforts to combat its impact must be broad and comprehensive. The book presents a kaupapa M ori and decolonised agenda for M ori education. The writers put kaupapa M ori into practice through a p r kau (narrative) approach to explore the diverse topics in a range of styles. Digital editions in ebook and Kindle versions will be available from 15 October "

Decolonizing Colonial Heritage explores how different agents practice the decolonization of European colonial heritage at European and extra-European locations. Assessing the impact of these practices, the book also explores what a new vision of Europe in the postcolonial present could look like. Including contributions from academics, artists and heritage practitioners, the volume explores decolonial heritage practices in politics, contemporary history, diplomacy, museum practice, the visual arts and self-generated memorial expressions in public spaces. The comparative focus of the chapters includes examples of internal colonization in Europe and extends to former European colonies, among them Shanghai, Cape Town and Rio de Janeiro. Examining practices in a range of different contexts, the book pays particular attention to sub-national actors whose work is opening up new futures through their engagement with decolonial heritage practices in the present. The volume also considers the challenges posed by applying decolonial thinking to existing understandings of colonial heritage. Decolonizing Colonial Heritage examines the role of colonial heritage in European memory politics and heritage diplomacy. It will be of interest to academics and students working in the fields of heritage and memory studies, colonial and imperial history, European studies, sociology, cultural studies, development studies, museum studies, and contemporary art. "This edited collection discusses how to take responsibility to learn and practice the meanings of decolonization from cross-cultural (Indigenous, Black, transnational immigrants and refugee) community perspectives as a form of lifelong learning, unlearning, and relearning process. Although many academic researchers introduced decolonial and anti-racism in their research and education, they have not explained what it means to think of decolonial as a source of knowledge and understanding for cross-cultural Indigenous, Black, immigrant and refugee communities. Our decolonial reflective stories from everyday practice challenge not only our static science and social science mindsets but taking responsibility for the Indigenous land back movement by respecting Indigenous Treaties, taking actions decolonizing our ways of knowing and acting, protecting land-water, creating food security, creating an intercultural space for social justice, and developing transnational solidarity. We hope our decolonial reflective stories from our everyday practice may inspire and transform us--with influences personal, theoretical, philosophical, and global, which have shaped our thinking and being--as antiracist solidarity processes which create all of the belongingness with care, respect, and responsibilities towards building antiracist communities."--
