This thesis is written to investigate the gender gap that exists in current church membership throughout Western Christianity. Numerous studies have established that throughout all Christian churches in the United States, women outnumber men in attendance and membership. This paper is written with the hope of understanding the causes for disproportional involvement of men in the local church. This timely book moves beyond struggling, suffering and loss to argue that forced migration often provides opportunities for men to pursue new relationships and re-organise their intimate lives.
