They are each dedicated to the methodological, physical, and functional principles, the conception of a constructional basic solution, and finally its implementation in the constructional detail. Not only is a wide range of content covered, but the greatest possible clarity is also ensured in order to make it easier for students to access the subject matter. An important focus of the work lies not only on conveying technical and scientific factual information, but also on demonstrating complex relationships and interactions between design, material, and construction. Volume 2 deals with constructional aspects that influence the design of buildings and their components. This includes the assembly of building envelopes--large-format continuous surface elements--from individual components, taking into account different variants of flat and curved geometry and basic constructional design. As a further conceptually determining constructional criterion, primary supporting structures are dealt with in their most important elementary manifestations. In addition, established, predominantly material-related construction methods used in building practice are discussed.
