Nodal, who laid down its general plan and undertook the preliminary labour. His list was afterwards greatly enlarged by Mr. Wm. E. A. Axon, the Club's Honorary Secretary. Various circumstances, however, prevented those gentlemen from going on with the work, and ultimately, in November, 1875, the Editor undertook the revision and preparation of the list for the press. Under his hands the catalogue of between 500 and 600 names has increased to the roll of about writers, which is now presented to the reader.
