Reign of Ashes
Asha, a head strong and fierce Warrior, has just barely escaped her nemesis’s flaming castle alive—and thankfully, not empty handed. After capturing Khaba’s pet, Asha returns to her superior, the supercilious Mina, and prays she won’t be too angered by her failure, but her hopes are quickly dashed. Scornful of Asha’s failure, Mina sets her household on a new course, determined to put an end to Khaba’s reign of terror and foil his new plan of removing the King of Galnormada from his throne. Asha and her companions sail for the mysterious kingdom on a turbulent and frightfully lengthy journey, one that will take Asha farther than she has ever travelled before. With her companions by her side, Asha feels unstoppable and ready to take on any challenge that presents itself, but an unexpected arrival to the household quickly unravels secrets and plots far beyond anything she trained for. As her journey continues, Asha realizes she still has much to learn about the world and relies heavily on her training at the Sugiliate Warrior Academy to guide her, but discipline and oaths do not always lead to the right choices. Sometimes, her vow to be the greatest Warrior of all puts her—and those she cares about—in greater danger than ever before. Reign of Ashes, the second book of The Sugilite Warrior Series, is a dark, action-packed fantasy of loyalty, ambition, and the cost of choosing duty over the heart—as every decision could bring Asha closer to a future not of her making or desire.
Casebook of Interpersonal Psychotherapy
Author: John C. Markowitz
language: en
Publisher: Oxford University Press
Release Date: 2012-02-23
Interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT), an empirically validated treatment for depression and other disorders, is becoming more frequently used to treat a range of psychiatric diagnoses. Based on evidence that interpersonal problems contribute to the onset of psychiatric disorders, IPT helps patients to change interpersonal behavior in order to improve psychosocial functioning and relieve symptoms. IPT both relieves psychiatric symptoms and helps to build social skills. Bringing together experts who have treated patients with and conducted clinical research on IPT, the Casebook of Interpersonal Psychotherapy responds to the growing need for a foundational text to supplement the available manuals on IPT. The Casebook provides a wealth of real life treatment material, and illustrates the use of IPT in the hands of expert psychotherapists treating patients with a range of conditions and complications in different IPT treatment formats. The detailed cases give a sense of how IPT proceeds and how it works. Chapter authors describe specific adaptations of IPT for patients with particular disorders, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and personality disorders. The book also covers different contexts in which IPT may be practiced, including group therapy, inpatient settings, and telephone therapy. The Casebook of Interpersonal Psychotherapy is an invaluable resource for psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, psychiatric nurses, and other mental health professionals interested in psychotherapy.
Educating through Popular Culture
Author: Edward Janak

Publisher: Bloomsbury Publishing PLC
Release Date: 2017-03-01
This edited volume serves as a place for teachers and scholars to begin seeking ways in which popular culture has been effectively tapped for research and teaching purposes around the country. The contents of the book came together in a way that allowed for a detailed examination of teaching with popular culture on many levels. The first part allows teachers in PreK-12 schools the opportunity to share their successful practices. The second part affords the same opportunity to teachers in community colleges and university settings. The third part shows the impact of US popular culture in classrooms around the world. The fourth part closes the loop, to some extent, showing how universities can prepare teachers to use popular culture with their future PreK-12 students. The final part of the book allows researchers to discuss the impact popular culture plays in their work. It also seeks to address a shortcoming in the field; while there are outlets to publish studies of popular culture, and outlets to publish pedagogical/practitioner pieces, there is no outlet to publish practitioner pieces on studying popular culture, in spite of the increased popularity and legitimacy of the field.
