Der Neue Bayerische Heimatfilm Im 21 Jahrhundert
Magisterarbeit aus dem Jahr 2011 im Fachbereich Ethnologie / Volkskunde, Note: 1,3, Universität Augsburg, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Heimatfilm: Kitsch, 'heile-Welt', Schwarzwald, Folklorismus, Heide, idyllische Natur, Heimat, Trivialität, Provinz 'Zieprack', Happy End. Dies sind Assoziationen, die mit dem Wort Heimatfilm in Verbindung gebracht werden. In den 1950er Jahren entstand dieses erste genuin deutsche Genre, das durchaus grob gekürzt mit diesen Vokabeln definiert werden kann. Bis zum Ende der 1960er Jahre konnte der traditionelle Heimatfilm große kommerzielle Erfolge feiern. Doch der Beigeschmack der Trivialität blieb die Jahrzehnte hindurch an diesem Genre haften. Kein Regisseur, der als Künstler ernst genommen werden wollte, beschäftigte sich mit dieser Filmgattung. Vereinzelt wurden in den 1970er Jahren Heimatfilme produziert, die solche Begriffe, wie oben genannt, als zynisches Zitat aufnahmen und gesellschaftskritisch auftraten. Doch diese Filme blieben die Minderheit. Im Jahr 2001 schließlich kam der Film DIE SCHEINHEILIGEN in die Kinos, gefolgt von HIERANKL 2003 und 2005 GRENZEVERKEHR. Plötzlich gab es Regisseure, die sich wieder dem Thema Heimat und der Provinz zuwandten. Der "Charme des Regionalen" hielt wieder Einzug in die bayerische Kinolandschaft und das mit Erfolg. Maßgeblich dazu beigetragen haben auch die Filme von Marcus H. Rosenmüller. Allen voran sein Erstlingswerk WER FRÜHER STIRBT IST LÄNGER TOT, der in etwa 2 Millionen Zuschauer bundesweit verzeichnen konnte. Damit haben die Regisseure Hans Steinbichler (HIERANKL), Thomas Kronthaler (DIE SCHEINHEILIGEN), Stefan Betz (GRENZVERKEHR) und Marcus H. Rosenmüller (WER FRÜHER STIRBT IST LÄNGER TOT) eine Entwicklung angestoßen, die Kritiker und Filmtheoretiker mit der "Neue Bayerische Heimatfilm" betiteln. Disease and Death in Eighteenth-Century Literature and Culture
This collection examines different aspects of attitudes towards disease and death in writing of the long eighteenth century. Taking three conditions as examples – ennui, sexual diseases and infectious diseases – as well as death itself, contributors explore the ways in which writing of the period placed them within a borderland between fashionability and unfashionability, relating them to current social fashions and trends. These essays also look at ways in which diseases were fashioned into bearing cultural, moral, religious and even political meaning. Works of literature are used as evidence, but also medical writings, personal correspondence and diaries. Diseases or conditions subject to scrutiny include syphilis, male impotence, plague, smallpox and consumption. Death, finally, is looked at both in terms of writers constructing meanings within death and of the fashioning of posthumous reputation.
Arabs and Arabists
Arabs and Arabists contains nineteen selected articles by Alastair Hamilton on the Western acquisition of knowledge of the Arab and Ottoman world in the early modern period. The first essays are on Arabs who visited Europe and gave instruction to Western Arabists, and on Europeans who either visited the Arab (or the Ottoman) world in search of manuscripts and information or who, like Franciscus Raphelengius, Isaac Casaubon and Adriaen Reland, studied it at a distance and remained in the West. These are followed by a section on the actual study of the Arabic language in Europe, and above all the creation of the first Arabic-Latin dictionaries, and another on the European study of Islam and Western translations of the Qur’an.
