"As a young executive, Eugene Erny seemed destined for prominence in Chicago's thriving business community. then a fateful, unplanned visit to a small tabernacle changed the course of his life as well as that of multitudes who later came under his influence. Upon graduation from seminary, Eugene embarked on a year-long evangelistic tour that would take him around the world. He returned from that trip, not only having found a bride and helpmate, but a calling that would involve him in world missions for the remainder of his life. Eugene and Esther Erny first served as OMS missionaries in China--later pioneering the work of the mission in India during the difficult World War II years. Elected OMS president in 1949 he served in that office for 20 years. During that time the number of OMS missionaries increased tenfold and new fields were opened in Asia, South America, and the Caribbean. This is the inspiring story of a great mission leader whose life and career typified the words of the Apostle Paul, 'this one thing I do,...I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God.'"
