Audrey Swam and Jeffrey Castle were childhood friends who grew up next door to each other. Audrey was a tomboy. Her father owned a stables where he kept and trained other people's horses. Jeffrey's father was a judge who wanted his son to become a lawyer. Jeff has gone to law school and took a year to see Europe.
Now Jeff has returned. Audrey hadn't seen him in 2 years. She is happy to see him, but then she learns that he's serious about a woman he met abroad. She knows that they are in different classes so she wishes him the best. Later, Audrey goes to a party at the Castles. There she meets Jeff's girlfriend, who she is shocked to learn is still married. She also meets Jeff's friend Victor Quinn, who she like very much. Vic helped Jeff get through law school. Jeff i supposed to go to work with his father, but his bride-to-be has other ideas.
