As the title suggests, the talks collected here cover quite a range of topics, including the First World War, academic geography, and constitutional law. Some are strictly Sherlockian in the old-fashioned sense; others are Doylean, or historical, or just silly. Several touch on a special interest of mine, the way religious and spiritual themes are expressed in the stories of Sherlock Holmes.

Christopher Redmond is best known as the proprietor of Sherlockian.net, perhaps the premiere Holmesian website. A prolific author, he has given us such well known titles as In Bed with Sherlock Holmes: Sexual Elements in Arthur Conan Doyle's Stories of the Great Detective, Welcome to America, Mr. Sherlock Holmes, and A Sherlock Holmes Handbook. He served as the editor of Canadian Holmes, the magazine of The Bootmakers of Toronto, from 1987 - 1991.
