This is a present-day story of an oceanographic research scientist, Dr. Pane, and his teenage surfer son, Jeremy. What was to be a two-week fishing trip on their deep-sea boat Spiker became repercussions of Dr. Pane’s discovery from a classified expedition for the United Nations. On board the Spiker boat, Dr. Pane gives Jeremy a special chain with a crystal stone and tells him, “Son, if anything happens to me I’m counting on you. The fate of the entire planet is at stake.” Suddenly the sea and surf explodes around them and destroys the boat into pieces. When the amnesiac Jeremy awakes he’s floating on a piece of the boat the size of a surfboard. With the help of two humpback whales, he manages to surf to a deserted island where he meets Ali, who is also stranded but knows the key information that will help him, “Spiker-Dude” to solve the mystery and help save all mankind on the planet.
