This new edition of Kumu Art Museum's extensive catalogue has been produced to accompany the first major UK exhibition devoted to the Estonian artist Konrad Mägi (1878-1925) at Dulwich Picture Gallery (24 March - 12 July 2026).
A pioneer of modern painting, Mägi is celebrated for his dazzling, spiritually charged landscapes and portraits. This publication brings together a survey of his work that reflects the intensity, productivity and stylistic range of a career that spanned just two decades, offering UK audiences a rare opportunity to encounter his art in depth.
Shown alongside Mägi's paintings is a specially commissioned sculptural work by contemporary Estonian artist Kristina Öllek.
Developed in response to Mägi's art during a residency on the island of Saarema - a landscape that Mägi himself painted repeatedly - the commission reflects on shared themes of place, nature and artistic response across generations.
