It’s a farmer out shooting rabbits who makes the grisly discovery. The body is crouched in the undergrowth — a bullet wound to the back of the head.
The dead man is quickly identified as Harold Hurst, chauffeur to the wealthy Norris family. He was last seen on Friday morning driving snooty Mrs. Norris to the shops in her gleaming Rolls-Royce.
But Mrs. Norris hasn’t been seen since. And the Rolls-Royce turns up abandoned at a motorway service station.
