The Craze

Abercafan used to be a lovely quiet little village where everyone knew everyone, where you could leave your doors unlocked or trust boxes unattended on the street for donations, and nobody would touch them.
My husband and I grew up here; we couldn’t imagine ever leaving. But we wished we left before the Craze began. Clowns were everywhere, walking the streets and terrorising folks worldwide, not just in our Village. Some said it was to do with a new movie release for Halloween, but it was just an excuse to hurt people. Curfews were enforced, and arrests were made, but the clown sightings continued. Locals were attacked, including me! Then it became a regular occurrence; this was personal, not random; this Clown wanted to kill me. I searched for him, put myself out there hoping he’d try again, but he didn’t show. Until that faithful day, he caught me out with my son, Riley, coming home from the shops; and he brought a friend this time.
