When Sonny, a burnt-out musician abandons Los Angeles and returns to his childhood village in England, little does he know the impact it will have on him, or on the women he Tamsin, a failed writer, heavy drinker and single mother, locked away from the world in her study; Lacy, married to a tyrant husband, who has all but resigned herself to a life without romance and laughter; Amelia, a primary school teacher, desperately searching for her missing twenty-year old son. Will falling in love with one of them be reason enough for Sonny to stay, or will Los Angeles win back his heart?
