Dangerous to Know

When Auriol had first met the dashing Rudi von Grieffenhagen she was very young, fresh from the convent, and still under the thumb of a possessive father. So perhaps it was inevitable that she should have plunged into a brief and disastrous marriage with Rudi — a self-confessed rake who had shown no signs of mending his ways even after they were married. That was six years ago now; the marriage was over, and Auriol had not seen or heard from Rudi since. Then, as luck — or fate — would have it, Auriol found herself working in Austria again inevitably, she met Rudi once more; equally inevitably, she had to admit that her feelings for him were not dead. But Rudi still didn't know her real reason for coming to Austria.
