Authenticity

You cannot be a good filmmaker if you are not authentic. So explains Doug Phillips in this impassioned appeal to aspiring filmmakers. Authenticity resides deep in the soul: You seek to know God; you long for Him. Only then can you say something meaningful to the world. Yet authenticity does not mean perfection, Phillips notes. The Bible contains stories of people who were inconsistent. David, a man after God's own heart, had a checkered history. But he knew what it meant to hunger and thirst after righteousness. Message to filmmakers: It's from the anvil of authenticity that great story-telling emerges.
