A few years ago, a series of depressing headlines made us stop reading the newspaper. It was our attempt at starting the day on a brighter note.
We soon made the mistake of saying this to a man we're honoured to call a mentor - Archbishop Desmond Tutu. He told us that we were looking at it all wrong. Instead, he said the newspaper was "God's To-Do List", delivered each morning to his front door.
We don't think you have to be a person of particular faith to see the wisdom in his words. Instead of seeing the headlines as insurmountable odds, we can choose to read them as challenges our world can overcome.
That's exactly what this compilation sets out to do. Global Voices aims to tell the untold stories of people and issues from around the world. With a foreword from Archbishop Desmond Tutu and discussion questions to help spark debate, this book will inspire young readers to deepen their understanding of issues and explore how they can change these headlines.
