Call me a romantic, but it's one thing I've always wanted, but life has never gone my way.
I have no issues with who I am as a person. The problem is that my family doesn't support me as a gay man or agree with my life decisions. They always had an unrealistic vision of who I was supposed to be. A picture that would never be a snapshot of my life.
Maybe with a little support, my life wouldn't have epically crashed down around me, threatening to bury me in the rubble.
I had no choice. I had to leave before the collapse suffocated me.

It's a new beginning; a place I can be my true self and live my own life as a firefighter. Saving lives. That's what I do. It's what I want.
But my past haunts me daily...
